If you want an intensive cookery course then one good way of doing it is to take a 4 week intensive cookery course in Ireland and in this way you can combine a holiday with training and at the end of the course you could get a diploma that will help you to get a job in the catering industry.

There are quite a few of these cookery courses springing up around Ireland and some very good people teaching from the basic culinary skills and food hygiene to fine dining, you would normally stay in a self catering apartment at the cookery school but most of your meals would be eaten at the school and cooked either by yourself or your fellow students, you will learn how to budget for a meal, how to be organised in the kitchen, get to know hygiene and kitchen safety, just because it is in Ireland it dosen’t mean that you will only learn how to cook Irish food, you will learn European and Asian menus as well.

The courses are normally broken up into the four weeks, so for example in the first week you might learn the basic skills that you need such as knife skills, hygiene, how to make bread etc, plus of course food preperation, you will also learn how to make different sauces and bases that you will adapt over the following weeks to different dishes and that you will be using for years to come.
